Kate McGill Counseling
Forgiveness is giving up all hope of having had a different past.
- Anne Lamott

How it Works:

I invite you to take some time to look over the following information and ask yourself, "What might I need in this moment?  In future moments?"  Support?  Self Care?  Relief?  Quiet?  Reflection?  Deep Healing?  A New Process?

As you listen to yourself, you are already beginning the first step in your own healing process.  This is one of the primary ways in which I will work with you.  I will ask you to listen to your inner voice and listen to your body.  By paying attention to yourself we will work to help you get your own needs (and wants!) met so that you are able to be more free with others and your own self.

My core belief is that each one of us works from a framework that is shaped out of an understanding we have of ourselves in the world.  That understanding impacts how we relate to those around us and how you will relate to me.  Counseling is a safe way to look at how your belief system works for you and where it keeps you in unhealthy patterns.

It is my desire to make our time together as safe and secure as possible for you and I to examine those patterns and learn how they serve or don't serve you.  I believe that each one of us is created to live fully from the uniqueness that we were born into; and to embrace that uniqueness.

Much of my theoretical approach is informed by psychodynamic, object- relations, family systems and emotion-focused therapy.
If you want to know more about these approaches, please feel free to look them up on www.wikipedia.org or ask me questions.
