"
to love ourselves means to extend to those various selves that we have been along the way the same degree of compassion and concern that we would extend to anyone else." - Frederick Buechner
About Kate
I am a master's level mental health therapist working in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle. I received my master's degree from Mars Hill Graduate School and have been practicing in the greater Seattle and Renton areas since. A large portion of my work has been with massage students at Cortiva Institute of Massage. The opportunity to integrate mental health in a holistic environment where students are learning how the body holds memories was inspirational.
Much of the last ten years of my life has been spent traveling and exploring life outside the box. I have experienced many peoples in developing nations that have taught me much about compassion, hospitality, hope and integrity. Their stories mingle with the ones I hear in my office and increase my passion to continue this work!
After a long season of wondering what direction I would take, I decided to plunge deeply into the study of theology and counseling. My transformation process in that season led to sitting with clients in their stories of brokenness and healing. There is nothing else I would rather be doing at this time in my life than joining people in their joys and sorrows; it is a great honor to be with clients in their journeys.
I reside in South Seattle with my husband, five chickens, a hand full of kindred friends, and a great church. I love to play in the woods, or in the kitchen, and never pass up a good mug of French-pressed coffee.
